A month earlier this landscape was vibrant green. Over the course of a single day I could witness the tundra reddening. Slowly, the bright scenery becomes muted by orange, red, and gold shining through the remaining spruce, willow and alder leaves, and grasses. The clouds and rain are held back by the Alaska Range, although the wind still howls through with occasional 60 mph gusts. The hills are beautiful and I just want to sit and watch the brush blow in the wind.
