The aurora borealis or northern lights are one of the most beautiful phenomena that can be witnessed in the northern hemisphere. Charged particles that were trapped in the Earth's magnetosphere sometimes rain down on the upper atmosphere sparking beautiful light displays that dance in the night sky.
