Murphy Dome is a popular location to hike, ATV, and watch the northern lights. It is about a 45-minute drive outside of Fairbanks, Alaska. The summit houses a radar dome operated by the Air Force as part of the NORAD defense system. It's the only remnant of an Air Force station built on the dome in 1950-1951.
