Crossing wet snow
Old streams leave depressions that fill with snow and take longer to melt out. This one had water running beneath it and the snow was isothermal. Not deep or dangerous, but better to step over if you want to remain dry.

Good Balance
Rock on an ice pedestal on College Glacier. The rock insulates the ice beneath enough that it doesn't melt as the ice around it does. This one had a perfect south aspect too.
