Cotton Candy Sunset
From Miller Creek in the Eastern Alaska Range.
Sunset in the Alaska Range
Cotton Candy Clouds
A great view to end a tough day.
Great sky over one of the smaller, mostly dry drainages in the Miller Creek basin in the Alaska Range. Mt. Shand can be seen in the distance.
Over one of the Miller Creek drainages.
Beautiful sky over a mostly dry stream in the Miller Creek basin.
Sunset over a nearly dry bed in the Miller Creek drainage. Eastern Alaska Range.
Cat and Sunset
Nothing beats walking toward the sunset for two hours. One of the major benefits of summer living and hiking in Alaska.
Still Three Miles
It was good to be off the moraine, but there was still 3 miles of hiking back to the truck.
Evening light on the Delta Mountains in the Alaska Range over Miller Creek.
Institute Peak over the Canwell Glacier and Miller Creek at sunset.
Glow on the Deltas
Evening glow on Institute Peak over the Canwell Glacier and Miller Creek.
Alaska Range Sunset
Over some mud flats on Miller Creek. Some wildfire smoke coming from a fire near Ft. Greely helped with the color.
Miller Creek Sunset
Gorgeous view of the Alaska Range
Evening light on the mountains over Miller Creek at the Canwell Glacier terminus.
Cat - Almost off the moraine
Approximately mile 10. Both of us were tired from the hike on the loose moraine and through snow and mud.
Sunset over Miller Creek
Taken from the Canwell Glacier terminus.
Probably my favorite part of hiking in Alaska in the summer is getting to watch these sunsets that last for hours. Looking over Miller Creek from the Canwell Glacier in the Eastern Alaska Range.
Back through the moraine
Nice golden sunlight for much of the tiring hike out.
Ice Canyon and Waterfall
A powerful view of ice and water in the Alaska Range.
Getting to the canyon view
Cool waterfall into the ice canyon on the Canwell Glacier
It was about 20 degrees colder out on the ice than most of the hike up.
We didn't venture past the snowline since it was isothermal mush.
Down in the little horseshoe canyon.
All the water was very close to moraines and there isn't much bare ice yet, making the water very silty.
Cat adding layers while I run around taking photos on the Canwell Glacier
