In the pristine, snowy landscape of Denali National Park & Preserve, a Snowshoe Hare is perfectly camouflaged with its pure white winter coat. This close-up captures the hare with its paws stretched out in front and ears perked up, attentive to its surroundings. I took this photo along the Roadside Trail, which connects the park's visitor center to the Dog Kennels and Park Headquarters and is usually accessible year-round. It startled me as we walked, as I didn't see it until it moved. There was no need for a telephoto lens, as it posed here just a few feet away while I took a few photos before it bounded off.
