This was a couple of days after we had our first (early) snowfall in Fairbanks. We woke up to a bit of fog on our street.
The moon setting over Ballaine Lake.
Cool reflections with just a little bit of vapour condensing above the lake since the air was a good deal colder than the water.
Another shot of the moon over Ballaine Lake.
Most of the leaves have turned yellow or fallen by now.
Snowy and icy trails.
A bit of snow remained on the trails. Some of the ground-cover is still red.
Blueberries
Frozen blueberries still lining the trail.
Nice layer of ice on top of water on the trail. Feet definitely got wet, good thing I wore sandals!
I love the open taiga here. It's not very fun to walk on though, lots of frozen tufts.
Yellow foliage.
Sunrise Trail
The sunrise and a bit of fog made for a cool effect down the straight, spruce lined trails. This is out on the trail system at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
Light on the trail
Narrow slits of golden light.
Full range of color. Early fall in Fairbanks.
More ice on the trails.
autumn aspen
Quaking aspen along a trail at the University of Alaska Fairbanks at peak foliage in September.
The yellow aspen leaves are a beautiful contrast against the blue sky in September.
